Laura Flanders Show | Tackling Racism With Rice (Jubilee Justice Story)
The Jubilee Justice Project is a pioneering initiative using regenerative farming to tackle systemic racism. By combining restorative economics, regenerative agriculture, and asset ownership, it addresses the racial wealth gap, land loss among Black farmers, and the environmental impact of conventional rice production –offering a powerful model for racial and economic justice.
During the Covid pandemic, I traveled the Southern U.S. in an RV with three other women, documenting this initiative and capturing the stories of Black farmers. Recently, I collaborated with The Laura Flanders Show (PBS) to film the inauguration of Jubilee Justice’s farmer network’s very own rice mill, weaving the footage shot during the pandemic into a hopeful and inspiring episode.
